Welcome

A Letter from Principal Rivera
Dear Tucson High Families, and community,

This is my 24th start of a school year as an educator, and my 5th start in TUSD! I look forward to all the joys and challenges a new year brings.  Tucson High Magnet School has been wonderful in the few weeks I have started this journey. I am coming from a TUSD school, Pistor Middle School, where I have been principal since 2018.
I look forward to the former students who will greet me at the high school. Prior to Pistor MS, I started my career in 1999 as a middle school teacher in ELA, ELD & Social Studies for 14 years. I was not only a teacher during those years, but a cheer and volleyball coach, yearbook, student council sponsor, a summer school CSP, site council chair, union rep and so much more!  I just really LOVE School. Prior to moving to Tucson, I was an assistant principal & dean at a high school for five years where I spent a total of 19 years in Albuquerque Public Schools.
I have an undergraduate degree in Education from NMSU, and a graduate degree in Education Administration from The Mary Lou Fulton Teacher’s College at ASU. I have missed working in high school very much and cannot wait for athletics/ games, amazing classroom projects and performances in our auditorium! Most importantly I look forward to getting to know our students.
