Mission Statement

Tucson High Magnet School exists to provide high-quality instruction in all curricular areas; foster understanding of the world through the arts, sciences, mathematics, and humanities; and develop good citizens so that students demonstrate academics and intercultural proficiency, as well as career preparedness.

Vision

Tucson High Magnet School is a learning community in which student success is the priority of all endeavors, Values are the attitudes, beliefs, and commitments we make in school.

The Tucson High Magnet community will:

The Tucson High Badger Foundation’s mission is to serve and support the Tucson High Magnet School community, consisting of students, faculty and staff by providing financial assistance for special events, services to students and faculty and post-secondary student scholarships. In addition, the Foundation also honors, celebrates and preserves the history, traditions and achievements of THMS.

The Badger Foundation is the prime alumni organization for Tucson High Magnet School. Foundation members currently include over 1000 graduates, faculty, staff and friends of Tucson High who share a common commitment to support student activities and educational goals. The Foundation provides financial assistance to Tucson High students, faculty and staff which enables students and student groups to participate in special activities when school or district funds are not available.

Tucson High is the oldest operating public high school in the state of Arizona. On April 10, 1906, the Arizona Board of Regents resolved that as of September 1, 1906, students from all Arizona cities, having a population of more than 5,000, must have completed the 9th grade before enrolling in the University of Arizona Preparatory Department. Then the voters of Tucson School District No. 1 approved the formation of a high school district on August 8, 1906.
